the values i saw in the movie of the insurgents was, courageous, resolute, hardy, love of communism, and a higher moral ground then the government troops who were raping women like the girl robert fell in love with.

The main theme is courage in the face of advercity. there is also a love story in there. Plus a whole lot of self-sacrifice.

7.1 For whom the bell tolls

The character I'm going to blog about is robert jordan the teacher turned fighter. I feel that his best features were his courage and leadership qualities. In the movie his role was pretty glorified so i did not find and bad qualities to his character. The one with all the bad qualities was the leader of the antifascist guerilla unit. His bad qualities were jealousy, treachery, stupidity, cruelity and he was basically an all around jerk to anybody but his crew.

6.1 Barn Burning 20 Pts

The story Barn Burning starts out in a trial thats about someones barn burning down. The family has to move on after the trial. They head off to another farm so they can share crop some land. Trouble starts almost right off the bat with the father ruining the farmers rug. When the farmer asked to be paid for the rug, the father fights it in court and gets it reduced by half. This still wasn't the end for then the father decides to not pay that either and goes to do his regular thing to get even. The boy who wants to stop his dad runs off.

The kind of soldiering his father did during the civil war was not very good. He stole from both sides. Towards the end of the story it says how he wore no uniform and stole from both sides. Somewhere in the beginning of the story I read that hid father was a horse trader befor the war.

The plot for Young Goodman Brown is a about good and evil. It starts out with Mr. Brown heading out to have a meeting with the devil and on the way he see's that all the people he has looked up to all his life were evil and even his pure wife faith was not what he thought she was.
In the end we don't know if it was a dream or not but Mr. Brown let that dream ruin his life ini that he was always fearful and suspicious of his wife and all those around him. thereby not letting him enjoy the life he had.


When I compare the two plots. I find that they are both very clear and concise except for the twist at the end where young goodman brown may have dreamed his nights encounters with Satan and his worshipers. There really wasn't much of a twist to the story two old women.

1 Two old Women Pts. 10

Well in the beginning the two old women were left behind because the people were starving and they could no longer take care of them. Also the two old women were always complaining about there aches and pains which contributed to there being left behind. After the people left the two old women decided to head out on there own instead of just sitting there waiting to die. They decided to go to a place they emebered youth. After traveling for many day's and nights they got there. Food was plentiful there and they started stockpiling food for the winter. They had a lot of free time so they also made many garments from rabbits and whatnot that they then saved up. The People who had left them behind were still having hard times and in there wanderings they were now back were they had left the two old women. They were surprised to find no evidence of there demise. After sending out search parties the most Senior hunter found them. The two old women gave the People food and warm clothes for the coming winter. In the end everyone made up. This is one of the stories that tells how the People came to respect and care for there elders instead of just leaving them by the wayside when things get tough.
